Our Top Treatment for Eyes | Eye Skincare

From fine lines and wrinkles to dark circles and puffiness, our eyes are one of the first areas to show signs of change and ageing. Due to the fact that the skin is much thinner around the eyes, prone to dehydration and there are little to no oil glands, the eyes can show a multitude of skin concerns at once. One of the most common eye skincare questions we get asked is ‘what can I do to get rid of wrinkles/dark circles/crows feet around my eyes?’ We have compiled some tips and facts and highlighted our favourite products to address these eye concerns.

Eye skincare tips and facts

  • Everyday muscle movement over time will develop dynamic wrinkles. Eg “crows feet” can appear as a result of smiling, squinting and blinking etc
  • Static wrinkles start to appear as a result of the natural ageing process.
  • You can never fully remove fine lines and wrinkles. They are a natural ageing process. You can however refine, smooth and firm the eye area so that they are not so pronounced.
  • Dark circles around the eyes can be a combination of genetics and environment. Some people have naturally darker areas under their skin due to genetic makeup. Using a light reflective eye cream will help to alleviate some of the dark prone areas. Lack of sleep and stress are environmental factors that can also cause dark circles.
  • Protect delicate skin under the eyes from sun damage. The sun can add premature wrinkles and exacerbate the ageing process. Sunscreen and protective eye wear when outside will help slow down this process.
  • Using eye care products and treatments can begin in the early 20’s. Especially as all generations are now using more devices and spending more time in front of computers resulting in tired ,dry eyes. A hydrating eye cream or serum daily will help to combat the dehydration.
  • For an anti-ageing eye treatment consider incorporating a retinol based eye treatment into your nightly routine. Over time the eye area will be smoothed and fine lines and wrinkles will be more refined.
  • Only a small amount of eye cream is needed. We recommend a rice grain size of the product for both eyes.
  • Eye creams and eye gels can be used both morning and night.
  • A soothing treatment eye mask once a week will do wonders for tired, dry and dehydrated eyes.
